Local consultants (franchises) Watch out for local seminars/events in your area, these will allow you to find out far more, and give you the information to decide if this is for you.
There are three styles that these franchises are available in; area franchises, local team franchises and mini franchise. They differ in a number of ways, including the role they play, and there are differences in minimum stock holdings and the way they derive their incomes. Area franchise The area franchise is the central point in the area, and all others work closely with them. They have a minimum of two people and maintain an office, usually in their home, and are the main communications link. They undertake local administration, co-ordinate the loan and transfer of editions between team members and hold the weekly team meeting. All orders for editions are placed through them and deliveries for the area are made to them. They also do all that the local franchise does, and has all the same income streams plus gets a percentage of the trade value of all editions sold by themselves and all who place orders through their area franchise. In addition they are that major beneficiary of the arrangements around local loan of editions between team members. They have the largest minimum stock holding. One way to think of an area franchise is as a local team franchise with additional librarian and administrative functions. Local team franchises There will be about 3 of these to each area franchise and work with the area franchises. A minimum of just one full time person is required, and they do not need an office based person as they wok with the support of the area franchise. They have a lower minimum stock holding. Mini franchises A mini franchise is designed to be a lower cost entry route, allowing a person to operate part time if they wish and to have a very small stock holding utilising the help and stock of another team franchise member they work with. They don't need to attend local team meetings and although working with a team members they are not likely to be working as closely on joint projects with others. The team member that supports them is rewarded for doing so, and to cover this cost, the margin that the mini franchise makes is reduced compared to other franchise types.
The team advantage The structure as local teams allows cooperation, joint promotions and events, motivation, and the sharing of art editions. Initially all team members get some training organised by us centrally, but further help, support, ideas and more is provided by the brand coordinators. Both in the initial training and later through brand co-ordinators a lot of advice and ideas are provided to provide opportunities, and information on how to develop the local teams profitably.
